This is not your lord, but someone close to him.  For those of you who do not know, he is keeping to his vow of silence until the Pens win the Stanley Cup or until it’s over.

But he nodded in approval to allow one of his dedicated followers to announce, now that Barack Obama has clinched enough delegates, that Hillary Clinton is officially America’s Psycho Ex-Girlfriend.

At The Campus there will be cake as we celebrate the

And watch the Penguins dispatch the Red Wings and force Game 7.

Did you see that?

In the wake of Hillary Clinton’s loss last night - yes, I am aware she won in Indiana by two points, but overall losing by 200,000 votes - did I just hear her say on TV that if they were following Republican rules she would already be the nominee?  Perhaps she should have run as a Republican then.

This is just her trying to spin her argument about Electoral votes in November, which is really just empty rhetoric because nobody can say at this point how either candidate will do against McCain.

This just shows more and more that Clinton has no couth.  This is almost as sad as her repeated statements about counting Michigan and Florida since she’s lost the lead and is pretty much mathematically eliminated.  George McGovern, who in October endorsed Clinton, has switched sides; changed his endorsement to Barack Obama; and called for Clinton to drop out of the race.

Missing: Honey Bunny

Timothy Anderson didn’t get away with any cash from his attempted robbery of a Dormont Eat ‘n’ Park because he forgot that he needed Honey Bunny.

Due to the fact that I have decided that Onorato, Harrisburg and the Port Authority will be perpetually stupid, unless something miraculous happens, I will no longer comment on the Onorato drink tax.

Harrisburg and Onorato: As elected officials and having four-plus years to deal with the stupid mis-management of the Port Authority, they have failed and will continue to do so, claiming their hands are tied instead of looking for alternative solutions.  Onorato should be ashamed for pitting industry vs. homeowners.  But, he’s obviously learning from Clinton how to posture himself politically.

Port Authority:  Well, it’s hard to undo decades of incompetence and bureaucracy.  The fact that many have been appointed by Onorato… well, the Port Authority is now just an extension of him.

Even though I’m for the cutting / eliminating of taxes, I don’t agree that Clinton (or McCain’s plan) is well-thoughtout enough to actually make an impact.  Removing the $0.18 federal tax from gasoline for three months only to put it back into effect in September?  Say I have a ten-gallon gas tank that I fill up once a week - current cost is about $35 dollars / week.  Remove the $0.18 and I save $1.80 / week.  Over 12 weeks I would save $21.80.  Meanwhile, we’d have to put our faith in the oil industry for the money to repair roads and bridges.  Hell, when we can barely maintain the terrible conditions that Pennsylvania’s roads are in, this doesn’t sound like a good idea.

At the same time, this is just pandering.  An empty promise. Will anything actually be done about this before the Summer vacation season starts?  It is three weeks away.  This is just an empty promise by Clinton that actually borders on a bald-face lie.  The fact that people even listen to this nonsense is sad.  Especially when they will not even check the facts themselves or that of economists who actually know what they’re talking about.  Even the Bill Clinton’s former adviser Robert Reich spoke out against this idiocy.

“The gas tax holiday is small potatoes relative to everything else. But it’s so economically stupid (it would increase demand for gas and cause prices to rise, eliminating any benefit to consumers while costing the Treasury more than $9 billion, and generate more pollution) and silly (even if she won, HRC won’t be president this summer) as to be worrisome. That HRC now says she doesn’t care that what economists think is even more troubling.”

What does this mean for Us?  Well, We may have to reduce the number of field trips held this summer.  Instead of weekly field trips, We may have to go every other week instead.

Also, Our trip to India to toss babies off of a ledge for luck has also been put on hold.  We may be able to do this locally.

I don’t read fark.com too often, but every once in a while, a gem of a headline appears.

“Hillary sees her shadow in Pennsylvania. We can expect six more weeks of tired, pathetic campaigning”

Isn’t that the truth.

I couldn’t even watch her victory speech; it was very uncomfortable.  Not fingernails-on-the-chalkboard uncomfortable, but uncomfortable in the way when you are in public and you get to witness a parent beat their crying child in front of a downtown McDonald’s while waiting for the bus. Oh, and this happens at rush hour in front of 100 people who are all trying not to look.

I can’t wait to see what lows Hillary Clinton will stoop to next.  Perhaps she’ll claim that Obama just happened to be in a frame of a porn video like Terrel Owens (her campaign team will probably splice in the frame themselves - think Tyler Durden-style) Can Hillary Clinton get any more pathetic?  My answer is yes, but the question will be how.

The current queen of political spin thinks she has the lead… if you were to count Florida and Michigan.

“I’m very proud that as of today, I have received more votes by the people who have voted than anyone else,” Clinton said Wednesday, one day after her decisive win in Pennsylvania.

Not so fast, says Obama’s campaign. Clinton’s count includes her wins in Michigan and Florida, but the Democratic presidential candidates agreed not to campaign in those states because they violated party rules by scheduling their contests too early.

Oops.  She also tried to fool the media in stating that she raised $10 million dollars after her 9-point PA win on Tuesday.  The number is actually closer to $6 million.  I’m sure she is still in debt. Does anyone see a pattern here of lies and half-truths?   Clinton is just trying to sucker the remaining super delegates into pledging their support for her - will it work?  Well, if the super delegates are just as inept as the majority of central and western Pennsylvania, maybe.

I mean, people in Pennsylvania still believe that he’s Muslim (he’s not).   As if that or religion in general is supposed to play a part in politics.  Unfortunately, people believe in imaginary things and let their imaginary friends govern their life and choices.  Wake up.

So, someone over at 2 Political Junkies seems a bit upset that the Post-Gazette endorsed Obama.  Even though I think the endorsement is great, it’s still up to the individual to make up their own minds and not rely on who is endorsing whom.

An anonymous reponse:

“I know you’re obsessed with a woman becoming president. Mo Dowd was right. We could use a woman. Just not this one.”

Excellent point.  This country could use an awesome woman as president.  Unfortunately, Hillary Clinton is not that woman… nor is she awesome.

I agree with Bram R’s comments:

“When you follow some of the links, you provided, you only get to some news stories that describe in even greater detail why Clinton is the less preferable choice for office. And the quote you link to, above, seems to be just one random persons’ opinion, some of which are about issues I don’t recall even hearing in the campaign.

“I don’t hold Obama to super-high standards. I believe he has vastly superior political ability to Hillary Clinton. I also believe he has more often gotten it right in the clutch. And when you get down to it, the trouble he gets into is more often the result of his telling truths rather than falsehoods.”

I’ve refrained from commenting on Obama’s remarks last week - about guns and religions - but I have firsthand knowledge that the comments are, in fact, true.  I just have to look at a portion of my extended family.  While they may not all be bitter, they encompass the two things Obama mentioned. One of my extended family members is an avid reader and sender of Obama disinformation - one email sent just after this “gaffe” that Obama was out to take away guns and replace Christianity with Islam.

Now, yes, he could have phrased what he said in a much different tone; been a bit more savvy in his words; or perhaps explained why he picked those two specific things as examples to lessen the perceived “blow” to the citizens of Pennsylvania. However, that doesn’t mean that what he said isn’t true. It just goes with the saying, more people will forgive you for being wrong than they will for being correct.

Tom Ridge calls Obama’s comments a rookie mistake and that they show he’s not ready for the office.  This as opposed to all of the mistakes and misleadings Bush has made over the last eight years?

This is unexpected, but pleasant.  I thought for sure the Post-Gazette was a Hillary Clinton shill… but I guess because Scaife (of the Pittsburgh Trib) all but knelt between Clinton’s legs when she was in Pittsburgh during  St. Patrick’s day weekend, the PG decided to go the opposite direction.

Pennsylvania — this encrusted, change-averse commonwealth where a state liquor monopoly holds on against all reason and where municipal fiefdoms shrink from sensible consolidation — needs to take a strong look at the new face and the new hope in this race. Because political business-as-usual is more likely to bring the usual disappointment for the Democrats this fall, the Post-Gazette endorses the nomination of Barack Obama, who has brought an excitement and an electricity to American politics not seen since the days of John F. Kennedy.

I’ll take it.

Someone asked what happened to the Post-Gazette Campaign Watch. Originally designed to keep track of who was getting more press in the Post-Gazette, Clinton or Obama, the Campaign Watch was derailed as the articles seemed to drift from the campaign of the Democratic candidates and start focusing instead on the recess activities of  Pittsburgh elementary schools.

T. Nowicki

Post-Gazette writers O’Toole, Carpenter and others seemed to haunt the playgrounds and designate kids as either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama and use their sound bytes as fodder for their articles. I no longer had any idea if I was reading an article about the candidates or a letter home to the parents of school kids.

This phenomenon was not localized only to Pittsburgh. The New York Times and Washington Post seemed to have plants in day care centers, waiting with tape recorders running to catch the latest wave of childish insults thrown; mistaking five-year olds for the presidential candidates.

Confused as to what exactly was going on, I decided to stop reading about the childish banter.  You’d think if the Post-Gazette could write about the Pittsburgh Pirates in a positive light, they might be able to do the same with the Democratic candidates, but I digress.

Too many articles written allowed the all-too-common game of “let’s quote the other out of context and make them sound like a monster” to continue and present it to the lazy, common person who is more likely to act like a sheep instead of researching things for themselves.  The majority of those who do research for themselves probably do not have the mental capacity to extrapolate what is going on in the campaign.  They instead fall victim and tell their friends / whoever will listen a sound byte that is taken out of context and used for their own nefarious purposes to further their own agenda.  Hence the vicious cycle of political banter.

It only took nine days for this project to reach its critical mass of idiocy.  Thank you, mainstream media.

Late edit:  Thank you Hillary Clinton for acting like a first grader throughout your campaign as well.  You, yes, you, Hillary have made it painful to watch.

Back to the normal week

Getting back to Pittsburgh reality now that last weekend’s Rickrolls are complete, let’s look at some news, shall we?

For those of you who only read the front page of the Post Gazette, you would have failed to notice page A-6.  On page A-6 was an article letting people know that Obama was back in town to speak, or actually to listen, at Community College of Beaver County.   Come on, PG!  Hell, when supporters for Clinton were in town, they received front page treatment.  At least try to maintain some semblance of objectiveness for the campaign and that you’re not a shill for the Clinton machine.  Speaking of which, I haven’t added in articles for this past weekend due to inebriation but the campaign watch totals should be updated by tomorrow.

Pitt, in the wake of victory over Georgetown Saturday night is seeded Fourth in the South Bracket for the NCAA Tournament.  So, being logistical, Pitt is headed south west to Denver this this Thursday.  The end of the regular season was highly disappointing, especially against other Big East teams, but they played some great ball at Madison Square Garden.   Let’s see if they can get past the Elite Eight this year.  I’m having trouble finishing my bracket.  I won my company’s pool last year… I’m hoping for a repeat.

I hate baseball, but the results of this poll should be wildly amusing.  My prediction for the Pirates: 55-107.

Dear Post-Gazette:

I know you’re a Clinton shill, but try to give a balanced perspective of both Democratic Candidates.  To hold you accountable, Our Chief Political Correspondent and I will be counting both the number of front page articles (and all articles) about each candidate and their frequency. Stories about both candidates, like those about them courting the boy-mayor will not count.

Today’s initial count for March 11 (attempts will be made to back-date this to March 5, the day PA was thrown into prominence after Clinton’s shamelessness):

Clinton: 5
Obama: 1 (And that one grabbed from the AP)

For those playing at home you can follow along online.   I’ll come up with some scoring system that hopefully is fair to both candidates.

Adding one more thing that I wrote about a Clinton backer pulling the race cardObama camp calls for Clinton to drop Ferraro. And just so everyone’s clear, this is not the first gaff, but comes as part of a series of them from Clinton supporters.

Let’s also knock down Clinton a couple more pegs.

She “managed crisis” with Sinbad, Sheryl Crow and her daughter.

Susan Rice, a foreign policy adviser to Obama, mocked Clinton for her claim of having made a corkscrew landing into Bosnia under the threat of sniper fire, when, as Rice pointed out, she made the trip with Chelsea, Sheryl Crow and Sinbad.

“In fact, it was a meet-and-greet and concert with the troops,” said Rice.

And now Clinton has Sinbad himself ripping on her for it.

What else? Oh, that claim about the Northern Ireland:

Hillary Clinton had no direct role in bringing peace to Northern Ireland and is a “wee bit silly” for exaggerating the part she played, according to Lord Trimble of Lisnagarvey, the Nobel Peace Prize winner and former First Minister of the province.

So, I now speak to the Post-Gazette:  Where are these stories?
